What sort of program should I use for live performances as a keyboardist?

I've been playing keyboard in a band for a number of months now, using standalone VST programs, especially Pro-53 and Orchestral by Edirol, accessing them from my midi controller, the m-audio axiom 61. Either way I've been feeling held back because I can only use these programs as standalone programs since I'm somewhat scared to use a whole DAW like Fl studio in a live setting to host these virtual instruments. So, is there some kind of program out there that can host my vsts in an easy to manage way that will also allow me to switch between them and like parameters to the assignable knobs and sliders on my controller? Or is opening open my instruments on Fruity Loops my best option? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'm sorry about the length of this question.
