Need some tips about producing rap beats?

i basically need some tips on what to concentrate the most while producing old skool rap like tupac etc.... I use fl studio and got alot of vst's... I make music good i work with couple of rappers but i just recently started to get interested into making old skool rap beats? So any help or tips would be much appreciated. Thank you
